MAX OUT FOR MYELOMA

About 6 years ago my dad was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. We were thankful to have 6 years with little to no effect on my dad’s overall health as his cancer remained in a smouldering state (present but not progressing). However, in January of 2024 it appeared that treatment was required and he started his chemo journey. We are incredibly thankful that treatment has been well tolerated and his response to treatment has be positive. He is doing so well in fact the he has been fundraising for Myeloma Canada himself and plans to participate in the Myeloma March - a 5km walk/run this September. However! Running has never been an interest of mine so I started thinking “how can I turn my own passion into something bigger than myself?”. Which led me to the inception of “Max Out For Myeloma”. In honour of my dad, I’m raising funds throughout my weightlifting season with all proceeds to go directly to Myeloma Canada. Max Out For Myeloma is a season-long fundraiser (Oct 2024-May 2025) where I am asking individuals to pledge a certain donation amount based on the number of kilos I successfully lift in competition this year! For example, my last competition total was 159 kgs. A donation pledge of 50 cents per kilo would equate to approximately $80. I plan to compete 3 times this season (barring injury), hoping to up my total in each!
