From 2023 ......... My mom, Glenda was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in May 2022. It is a cancer of the plasma cells that are produced in the bone marrow and currently there is no cure - only treatment. We are encouraged that there are new treatment options, drug trials and drugs being developed. We are raising money in support of Myeloma Canada by participating in the Myeloma Canada Ride. My dad, John will be riding and leading the team, Chain Breakers in the Richmond 70 km ride on May 28th. There will be another ride on the Okanagan Rail Trail on May 28th to show our support in the Okanagan. But the Virtual Chain Breakers can join and support from all around the province with a donation and a virtual ride in your local city. The team name was chosen as a nod to one of the blood tests called light chains that Glenda had done to monitor the status of her myeloma. The Chain Breakers is currently a team of 5, and the Virtual Chain Breakers has 2 riders committed to riding in the Okanagan so far. Whether you are able to join for the ride along the Rail Trail, or in your home town for any amount of distance, or just a donation, any support is greatly appreciated!
By making a donation to our team you are supporting the pursuit of curing and preventing the disease, accelerating access to the best care, while empowering and improving the lives of all Canadians affected by myeloma.
..... and now from 2024 .... we're still riding! Join us and / or please consider making a donation today and help us reach our fundraising goal!
