Walking for my Grandma – In Loving Memory
This year, I’m participating in the 2025 Multiple Myeloma Walk in loving memory of my Grandma, Beverly, who passed away on March 6th, 2025, at the age of 80 after a courageous and heartbreaking battle with multiple myeloma.
Her journey began in the spring of 2024, when she started feeling unwell with unexplained symptoms and limited answers. Despite numerous visits to doctors and hospitals, it wasn't until late fall that she received a diagnosis. By then, her options were limited—not because she lacked strength or will to fight, but because time had worked against her.
Though she bravely tried to fight and began some treatment, in January she entered hospice care, where she spent 52 days surrounded by love, family, and grace, until her peaceful passing in early March.
My grandma had a heart of gold. She was generous, full of laughter, and had a gift for finding the joy in life’s everyday moments. She loved to garden, bake, knit cozy creations for her family and friends, and could never pass up a good bargain while shopping. Most of all, she shared a beautiful, lifelong bond with her soulmate—my grandpa, whom we also lost this spring after a broken heart and a battle with Alzheimer's.
I walk to honor her strength, her warmth, and the love she gave so freely. I walk for earlier diagnoses, better treatment options, and more time together. Every step I take is for her—and every dollar raised brings us closer to a future with better outcomes for families facing this disease.
If you’re able, please consider donating in her memory. Your support helps fund life-saving research, treatment advancements, and support for those still fighting.
Thank you for walking this path with me.
