I am raising money in support of Myeloma Canada by leading and participating in the Mississauga Multiple Myeloma March 2025. Every myeloma patient will need new anti-cancer drugs when the ones they are currently on stop being effective. I am personally between my 2nd and 3rd drug regimes and I hope that my current remission will last another 2 years, but there is no certainty.
In 2023, in an effort to inspire others to this cause and to test my inner and physical strength as a patient with multiple myeloma, I began a 4000 km hike around Europe accompanied by my husband. Starting in Lisbon, we hiked the west coast of Portugal and then across Spain to France. In the spring of 2024, we hiked across most of France. We then started in Italy at the border of Switzerland and hiked southeast to Piacenza, Italy. This spring, we completed more of the route in France and also a piece in Italy, from Piacenza to Lucca, altogether about 550 km. To date we have completed over half of the intended trip and we plan to travel on foot through Rome and Sicily and back to Lisbon, perhaps by the end of 2026.
