Hi Friends and Family!
On Sunday September 21 at 11:00am in Newmarket, I will be walking with Adam, Ella and Samantha to raise money in support of Myeloma Canada by participating in the Multiple Myeloma March.
We had an enormous turnout last year and so many generous donors. We are so very grateful for the love and support of our family and friends.
As many of you know, I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, an incurable blood cancer, in May 2019 and I will celebrate her 6th anniversary of my stem cell transplant on September 25.
I have had over 5 years of stability after my transplant while on a maintenance chemotherapy in addition to tackling the cancer and side effects with an integrative doctor.
Earlier this year I had a biochemical relapse (happily zero bone and kidney involvement that can happen with myeloma).
On March 20, I started second line treatment at Princess Margaret Hospital, at first consisting mainly of weekly intravenous treatment of a targeted immunotherapy as well as other medications. While the treatment has tapered off to be less frequent, it is ongoing, for now.
The great news is that after only two months it is working even better than any other treatment in the past and the myeloma cancer cells are back asleep!!!
In May 2019, when I was diagnosed this treatment was not yet approved and now it is a safe, effective option for so many patients like me.
As a result, we decided to continue our quest to fundraise for more research and life saving treatments (and hopefully a CURE!) by participating in the walk.
We know that these are tough financial times and we are thankful for your support in any form. If you can, join me and her family on September 21, from 11am to 1pm. If you cannot make it, please consider a small donation, any amount counts.
By making a donation, you are supporting the pursuit of curing and preventing the disease, accelerating access to the best care, while empowering and improving the lives of all Canadians affected by myeloma.
You are giving people like me the prospect of having more time with my family and my kids.
Please make a donation today and help me to reach my fundraising goal!
