Our team is raising money in support of Myeloma Canada by participating in the Multiple Myeloma March.
The team name "GG's favs" came from Jan's 7 year old grandson Ben. We know GG has a lot of favs and we welcome anybody to join our team and be part of the fun on Sept 14th.
Let's come together to show my Mom that she has a whole team behind her rooting for her as she fights the Multiple Myeloma beast!
When we first received and started to process this diagnosis in late June 2024 we were initially very sad and none of us wanted to see my Mom struggle or be in pain. However she was very clear this was not the end and she wanted to fight and fight hard. The reason she is able to fight and get treatment is because of the wealth of research into this rare cancer - Multiple Myeloma. The money raised from this run goes to Hamilton Health Sciences research in this area and Canada Multiple Myeloma.
My mom's reaction and progress to the treatment after her first cycle is deemed by her hematologist as a "silver star" success. We want to keep seeing this for her and for anybody impacted by this disease.
Treatment has improved dramatically over the last ten years and we now know the outcome to this cancer has improved immensely ... there have been huge improvements ... more research ... and far better treatment options.
There is currently no cure for Multiple Myeloma, but together we can accelerate access to the best care, while empowering and improving the lives of all Canadians affected by myeloma.
