Hi friends! I'm raising money in support of Myeloma Canada by participating in the 2021 Multiple Myeloma March. I will be walking in Cobourg on September 19 and in Newmarket on September 26!
In 2019, I was unexpectedly diagnosed with high-risk Multiple Myeloma. I was fortunate to be treated at the University Health Network hospitals in Toronto, primarily the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. I underwent chemotherapy, surgery to repair damage to my spine caused by the myeloma, and then two back-to-back autologous stem cell transplants in the summer and fall of 2019. I continue to be treated with what we call "maintenance therapy" which still includes mild chemotherapy and additional drugs to keep the myeloma at bay. The care I received was second to none, and thanks to the incredible efforts of my health care team, I am currently in full remission.
But Multiple Myeloma is an incurable disease, and eventually I will likely relapse and need a new round of treatments. By making a donation, you are helping to fund clinical research and to support advocacy for accelerated access to game-changing therapies for Canadian myeloma patients like me.
Please make a donation today and help me to reach my fundraising goal! If you'd like to join my team to help us fundraise further, or to walk with me in either Cobourg or Newmarket, please send me a message at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you! ❤
I'm at 17 km of 15 km.
