Hello and thank you for taking the time to visit my page supporting Myeloma Canada. Multiple myeloma is the 2nd most common form of blood cancer, and as of today, is incurable. Every day, nine Canadians are diagnosed, yet in spite of its growing prevalence, the disease remains relatively unknown.
My mother, Sandra Bogdanich, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in April of 2020. She was informed of her diagnoses while sitting alone in a hospital room as the covid pandemic had restricted her family from being by her side. Being the strong and optimistic person that she was, she never let this news dampen her outlook on life moving forward. Throughout her many treatments she never once complained about the hundreds of injections, pills, scans or visits to the cancer agency. Every time she would perk herself up and say "here we go" and when asked, she'd consistently say how good she was feeling - even when her body showed otherwise.
On July 18, 2021, my mom lost her courageous battle after just 15 months. The oncologists said she had one of the most aggressive forms they'd ever seen and were surprised she made it as far as she did. I will be forever inspired by how my mom took on cancer and thus I've decided to fight back as well.
On October 17, 2021 I will be participating in the multiple myeloma march at the Burnaby Lake Pavilion. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join me - please click on the link and create a profile to join my team "Sandy Bogs".
This walk is organized by Myeloma Canada in hopes of raising money and support for myeloma patients and research in Canada. In the 15 months our family experienced this awful disease, we learned about tremendous progress in myeloma research and treatments. Doctors are making great strides in finding a cure and every little bit we can do today, will help those impacted tomorrow.
Whether you decide to walk with me, silently donate or both, by making a donation you are helping to fund clinical research and to support advocacy for accelerated access to game-changing therapies for Canadian myeloma patients. Any donation amount helps and is so very needed to fight back against cancer. Please make a donation today and help us reach our fundraising goal!
Thank you so very much.
