Last year I shared with some you my journey, having been diagnosed with smoldering multiple myeloma a few years back. The support shown was overwhelming so thank you!
Again this year Myeloma Canada is using their "Walk for a Cure" all across Canada to fund raise. Our goal is $600,000 and to date are near $100,000 so a great start. Funds are used to continue research on how to effectively treat myeloma. Today there is still no cure yet research has been successful at seeing lives enriched and extended through new life changing treatments. In 2020 there were 3400 Canadians diagnosed with MM and unfortunately 1600 deaths.
Currently I am closely monitored by oncologists at the BC Cancer Centre here in Kelowna and to date am maintaining a good level of health. Many of my friends within the Kelowna Multiple Myeloma Society are less fortunate and thus I ask for your consideration to support this initiative.
Sept 11 is the date for the Kelowna walk. For locals who wish to join me, we will meet at the Dolphins, across from Prospera Place at 11:00 am, and enjoy a tranquil 5km stroll along our beautiful waterfront.
PLEASE -- when you register ensure you sign up for the KELOWNA march and for the GREG BALKWILL 2021 team. You can also click on this URL to access my personal page.
Please make your tax deductible donation today and help contribute to finding the cure!
