As many of you know, it’s been over 10 years now since I was diagnosed with active multiple myeloma, a relatively rare form of blood cancer. While the excellent treatment I receive at the Ottawa Hospital has kept my cancer under control so far, every day 11 more people in Canada are diagnosed with myeloma, and we are still in search of a cure..
Thanks to your generosity, last year's event was very successful, and the funds we raised supported research into immunotherapy and other promising new treatments (which now include Bispecific antibodies, CAR-T and NK cells).. These results will benefit all of us in the wider Myeloma patient community.
Our annual fundraising event, to increase awareness about Myeloma, support the development of these new game changing treatment options, and ultimately find a cure, officially takes place on September 22nd. Whether you wish to attend "in person" at the Ron Kolbus Lakeside Center in Britannia (registration starts at 12:00pm) or you (and your family, friends and associates) join us "virtually" by walking whatever distance you are comfortable with on or before September 22nd, making a donation to Stepstoacure if you can, or simply sending us a message of support - it all helps!
Thanks for your consideration and support, and making Myeloma matter,
Frank Shepherd
