Defying multiple myeloma one kilometer at a time
Welcome to our annual cyclist reunion! We are thrilled to host the 13th edition of the Défi Cyclo-myélome, an event dedicated to supporting multiple myeloma research. Together, we aim to raise funds to help Canadians living with myeloma live longer and better lives—and to help find a cure. The goal of the Défi Cyclo-myélome remains the same: funds will still support The Myeloma Canada Chair at the Université de Montréal and Dr LeBlanc's research.
The Défi Cyclo-myélome is a unique opportunity for cyclists aged 18 and older to create lasting memories while enjoying a scenic route alongside fellow riders. This is not a race. Participants are encouraged to ride at their own pace and take advantage of the rest stops provided along the route.
Wondering if this event is right for you? To ensure your safety and enjoyment, we recommend having a basic level of fitness that enables you to comfortably ride between 50 to 80 km in a day. If the distance feels too challenging, you can still join us by participating in the Virtual Ride option.

Marie-Lyne Joncas, spokeperson of the Défi Cyclo-myélome
“A member of my family was diagnosed a few years ago with multiple myeloma. Like most people, my first question was, what is that? Because let's face it, it still remains a little-known cancer. So, I took my Myeloma 101 course (and 201, and 301...), and I learned just how rapidly science is advancing thanks to a community of dedicated researchers, healthcare professionals, and passionate volunteers who are working hard to make a difference.
When the Défi Cyclo-myélome founders, Maryse and Francine, asked me if I wanted to be the event spokesperson, I accepted without hesitation. To tell you the truth, I was hoping they would ask me! I feel great pride knowing I can do my part to help raise funds to support research by promoting this activity. I am looking forward to meeting the myeloma community soon. In the meantime, know that I will take every chance I get to raise awareness about myeloma and share all the incredible work that is being done to overcome it.”
