I have two close friends that have been diagnosed with this rare form of blood cancer. Bernd is slightly older than I am and was marathon runner and an avid cycling buddy. He was diagnosed 4 years a ago and has ongoing treatments, chemo and radiation. He is determined to ride again soon.
Ashely, is much younger, a paramedic, a competitive body builder and an active cyclist. She was diagnosed 1 year ago and has undergone a stem cell transplant and various treatments. She is a determined young lady and against recommendations, recently competed in the grueling P2A (Paris to Ancaster) bike race. She is part of a team called the Biking Bananas that we formed to ride and raise funds for Myeloma.
